Kayla Williams Named as NHS Valedictorian
Friday, May 19 will be a new beginning for Newton High School Seniors. This momentous gathering is quite a tribute to the tenacity and determination of both students and parents in seeing the fulfillment of this dream. The top 15% in the class of 2017 are Valedictorian – Kayla Williams and Salutatorian – Caitlin Davis.; Kirkland Foster, Cameron Stewart, Caleb Sumrall, Chase Spradley, Luis Cruz, Ta’Kasha Wood, Haley Simmons, and Antwaine Hunter.
The NHS Senior Class Quote for 2017 is “As you start your journey, the first thing you should do is throw away that store-bought map and draw your own.” Class Song – Send It On; Class Flower- Rose.
Kayla Williams, daughter of Jimmy and Shelly Williams, was named Class Valedictorian. Through high school she has participated in band, softball, National Honor Society, Leo Club and Student Council. This fall, she will be attending Texas A&M University with a major in biochemistry in her quest to become a doctor. While she is in college, she plants on participating in many different on-campus activities, including intramural softball and concert band.
