The Newton Eagles Baseball Team, under the leadership of Head Coach Doug Samples, made history this season as they advanced farther than anyone could have predicted.  The 2017 season was a record-breaking year for the Eagles as they celebrated the most wins in school history and achieving their first ever playoff win.  It’s worth noting that this has been only the 3rd appearance in school history; the last appearance 12 years ago.

The Eagles trounced the Anderson-Shiro Owls in the 1st round but fell to the Danbury Panthers in round 2.  Looking back on the season, Coach Samples says, “I am extremely proud of this group of kids and coaches for everything they have accomplished this season.  Without their hard work and willingness to sacrifice themselves for their teammates, none of this would have been possible.”
