Fire Destroys Building But Hope Still Alive in Burkeville Church
On Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:28 p.m., the Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department was called out to Hwy. 63 West in Burkeville to a fire at the Heart of Worship Church. Half of the building was already engulfed as fire fighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the fire. Fire Chief Charles Duckworth said the fire was most likely caused by lightning because it occurred during a horrible lightning storm and the power had been knocked out due to the storm. The exact cause is still undetermined. The building was completely gutted by the fire as you can see in the picture. The Heart of Worship is looking to start meeting at the Cade Building in Burkeville until they get back on their feet, but the leadership and congregants said they would not let the fire keep them down.
