Accident Near Jamestown Road in Newton

On Tuesday, August 14, at around 11:45 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 190 west near Jamestown Road in Newton, which is FM 1012.

The initial report indicated that the 18-wheeler was traveling east on 190 and was being followed by a 2001 Toyota pick-up truck.  The driver of the 18-wheeler moved left into the left turn lane and he began to turn left onto Jamestown Road when his truck was rear-ended by the Toyota truck.  The driver of the Toyota was 62 year old Jesse Samuel, Jr. of Newton. Samuel was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital.  Mr. Samuel is in the hospital in Houston, where he is recovering from his injuries.  The driver of the 18-wheeler was a 35 year old man from Georgia.  He was not injured in the crash.  All the information thus far is preliminary as troopers continue to investigate the crash.
