Missing Person Has Been Found

A former Deweyville graduate was reported missing Sunday, August 19, 2018 according to Newton County Sheriff, Billy Rowles.  Ashley Southern was last seen walking on Indian Lake Road on Sunday morning around 9:00 a.m.  She had currently been living in Westlake, Louisiana.

A search began for Southern shortly after noon on Monday.  Her body was found on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. in a wooded area about 300 yards from the Sabine River inside Orange County but close to the Newton County line.  The Orange County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit is handling the investigation and the cause of death is unknown at this time.
