Fire Chief Charles Duckworth reported to us that Saturday night at approximately 10:39 p.m. the Burkeville Fire Department received a call about a wreck on Highway 63 East near County Road 2118 in Burkeville. It seems a man drove off the roadway and went 800 feet behind the guard rail through the creek. He stated that the man made it through the creek and then turned around to go back through the creek to the roadway and became stuck in the mud. He said the department worked until 2:30 a.m. winching the car from the boggy mud. Thankfully the man was uninjured in the accident. He was traveling to Fort Polk, Louisiana.
